MULTIMEDIA HERITAGE

Multimedia Heritage is a North Belfast based not-for-profit organisation with charitable status. It was set up in 1998 by volunteers with various skills including art, digital imaging, filming, education, and community development.

Multimedia Heritage works with individuals and communities, to record and preserve heritage. A key aim of the organisation is to build capacities within communities – so that technical know-how and communication skills are developed in projects that record social history, and promote music, literature and other artistic expression. Exploring and developing ‘collective memory’ at community level is central to the Multimedia Heritage approach.

Over the last two years Multimedia Heritage has been exploring the life and works of ‘the troubles poet’ Pádraic Fiacc. Several friends and colleagues of the poet have contributed their expertise, time and energy to this endeavour which has been co-ordinated by Michael McKernon, an artist and member of Multimedia Heritage. Michael has worked closely with the poet to ensure that his work is made accessible to a wider public through the publication of a fully illustrated book of Fiacc’s poetry.

The book ‘Sea: Sixty Years of Poetry by Pádraic Fiacc’ is published by Multimedia Heritage, with support from the Arts Council Northern Ireland.
